Begin to do some shaping with increases and decreases!

[blip.tv http://blip.tv/play/AYOJgnsA?p=1%5D

Sue and Julia made it through Hurricane Sandy with little difficulty, although Sue feels like she’s lost a week while Julia (who had power) was able to spend some time helping out and crafting. Today, Julia shows us some of the hurricane projects and teaches a DIY on increasing and decreasing your knitting. Sue shows us some organizational projects and a new/old dictionary. We’d love to get your input on what crafts we can make from the pages of this cool book!

Our November Square knitalong has started! Be sure you post pictures of your finished squares to be included in the giveaway drawing! The current patterns are listed in the Ravelry group and on the website. My square had turned out like this!

November Square-along

Here’s our update for those of you who are not members of Ravelry (the online knitting community where I find most of my patterns), we wanted to post links to the squares I chose for the knit-along so you can join us, too! Just leave a comment after this post to say you’ll be joining in. Please comment with a link to your finished square to be included in November’s drawing. You may complete one of the following squares or one from September or October.

I am keeping the October thread open until the 5th because of power issues over the past week. But, if you want to join in now, you need a new pattern! This month I’m giving you one pattern, two options for making it beginner or advanced.

KAL Weekly Square-Square 2

Make it beginner by using one color.
Make it advanced by using more colors! I haven’t tried this yet, but I’m sure it can be done. 🙂

It is a 10×10 square, so either knit until the sides are the length you want, make it a larger gauge, or add a border around the outside edge to make up the difference in size.

Again- to be included in the giveaway, you must post a finished picture to the thread by November 30, midnight EST.
